Dra. Jèssica Margalef
Jèssica Margalef received her B. Sc in Chemistry from Rovira i Virgili University, in 2011.
She pursued her M. Sc. and Ph.D. studies at the same university, under the supervision of Prof. Montserrat Diéguez and Dr. Oscar Pàmies. During her Ph.D. she did a 3 months exchange in the group of Prof. Hans Adolfsson (Stockholm University) and a short stage in Prof. Per-Ola Norrby (Gothenburg University).
Her thesis focused on the synthesis of modular ligand libraries for several catalytic processes and the use of DFT to speed up catalyst optimization. Her thesis was awarded with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.
In January 2017, she joined Prof. Joseph Samec’s group at Stockholm University as a postdoctoral researcher, where she studied green processes that employ readily available alcohols to produce chiral valuable synthons.
After two years, she came back to Tarragona as a Martí Franquès postdoctoral fellow, to work in the groups of Profs. Montserrat Diéguez and Josep M. Poblet.
She is currently working in the DFT-guided development of Ir-catalysts for water oxidation.
